Tips to Feel Better Now:

When you notice you feel ‘not good’ (such as when you are rushing, angry or feel pressured), use one or more of these tips to accomplish feeling better. Remember that your goal is to improve how YOU feel, not to change others or the world around you. You may want to combine tips, or use something of your own, which may work better for you in that moment. As long as your intention is to feel better quickly, you will feel some relief.

The only way for you to experience feeling good more often is to create more feeling better NOWs in your life! Practice using all of these tools at different times so that when you need to implement one, you are prepared with choices and know your favourites.

Name the emotion you are feeling

Simply naming the negative emotion in one word can help you get more than 50% of the way to feeling better.

Say “I want to feel better now”

Stating what you want helps you experience it; intention is powerful!

Breathe slowly and deeply for 1 to 4 breaths

Focusing on your breathing helps you feel some relief by relaxing you mentally and physically.

Smile

Even if it’s forced, smiling produces feel-good hormones and you feel some relief.

Choose a better-feeling perspective and/or better-feeling words

There are many different ways to look at a subject so choose perspectives and/or words that feel better to you.

Enjoy Nature

The alignment in nature can significantly improve your mood for the better. Go outside now for even one minute.

Exercise

Physical activity releases feel-good hormones. Even one minute of a physical activity of your choice helps improve your mood.

Meditate

Stop your thoughts for even one minute and your mood naturally rises.

Pause, Rest, or Nap

Stop what you are thinking or doing now! Closing your eyes for even one minute can help. A full nap can work wonders. A temporary break from consciousness can significantly reset your vibe.

Take care of your physical needs

Drink water, eat, go to the toilet, sleep, put on warmer clothes, remove a layer of hot clothes, etc.
